FSM calls for proposals for scientific projects. The closing date for applications is September 5 2025 and applicants will be notified about funding by the end of October 2025.
The requested amount should not exceed 10,000€ (4.000€ if there are only travel expenses). It can be raised to 20.000€ if the project aims at developing a collaboration with a corporate, public sector or non profit partner and part of the funds will be used to buy out part of the principal investigator's teaching, up to 1/4 of the full teaching load: contact Régis Renault regis.renault@cyu.fr for details about the funding of teaching buyouts.
Each funded project should contribute in at least one of the three following dimensions:
- Developing awareness among a general audience of the societal implications of research based on modeling methods.
- Developing partnerships with the corporate world, the public sector or non profit organizations.
- Developing interdisciplinary research involving different fields which rely on modeling techniques.
The applicant must be an FSM affiliate.
FSM is an inter-disciplinary project financed by CY Initiative gathering researchers specialized in such areas as economics, mathematics, physics and computer science, from four higher education and research institutions of the Île-de-France region:
- CY Cergy Paris Université with the research centers THEMA (Théorie Economique, Modélisation et Applications, UMR 8184), AGM (Analyse Géometrie Modélisation, UMR 8088), LPTM (Laboratoire de Physique Théorique et Modélisation, UMR 8089) and ETIS (Equipes Traitement de l'Information et Systèmes).
- ESSEC Business School with the research center CERESSEC (Centre d’Études et de Recherche en Sciences Sociales, Economiques et Commerciales)
- Université Paris Nanterre with the research center MODAL’X (Modélisation aléatoire de Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, EA 3454)
- Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas with the research center LEMMA (Laboratoire d'économie mathématique et de microéconomie appliquée)
FSM researchers develop a joint research agenda centered on mathematical, economic, and financial modelling that can be broadly organized into the following axes:
- Complex systems
- Models of uncertainty, extreme risks, and rare events
- Finance and risk management
- Firms, markets, and information
- Public and development economics
